These sea sediment jade beads instantly made me think of crashing waves and stormy waters. Paired with the completely serene white beads, they instantly reminded me of the stormy situation in which Jesus called Peter out onto the water.

Do you remember that part of the Bible?

The storm is going wild, Jesus is walking on water, and the Apostles think he is a ghost. But when Jesus tells them it’s him, Peter calls out*, “Lord, if it is you, bid me to come to you on the water”. That’s like, a huge petition. But Peter doesn’t assume he knows what Jesus’ plan is – he asks to be directed, and then waits for Jesus to call him out of his comfort zone.

And then he just trusts Jesus. Do you?

Trust is an ongoing choice. Peter walked on water for some distance, and it was only when he noticed the strong wind that he started to sink. He let himself be overwhelmed by fear, and the world and the impossibility of the situation distracts him from focusing on Jesus.

What are the winds in your life that are stoping you from believing all that Jesus promises?

But notice what Peter does next – he cries out “Lord save me” and “Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him”. When you get the moments of doubt, cry out to the Lord – He’s going to save you immediately and give you the strength to carry on.

When your life is as tumultuous as these beads, grab this rosary and start asking Mary for help. Cry out  to the Lord and He will calm the storm and bring you peace.

To finish off this rosary, the centerpiece is a beautifully detailed image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with Our Lady of Fatima on the reverse – both amazing devotions that are well worth reading up on.

It’s paired with a Pardon Crucifix – a powerful sacramental on par with the Miraculous medal and St. Benedict Medal. There used to be a partial indulgence attached to the Pardon Crucifix specifically, but since indulgences were updated in 1968 you can receive a partial indulgence any time you use a properly blessed sacramental like a rosary or a medal.

(You also have to fulfill the usual indulgence requirements, namely going to Mass and receiving Communion the day you obtain the indulgence, go to Confession within 7 days on either side of the indulgence, pray for the intentions of the Pope that day, and be completely free from all attachments to sin, even venial sin. This last one is how you check yourself before you go around thinking you can just drop some prayers into a cosmic vending machine and get some indulgences.)

If you’ve never researched indulgences, I highly recommend you do. It is a beautiful Tradition of the Church and a powerful way to obtain all the graces for the living and the dead.

*Jesus walks on water in Mark 6:45-52 and John 6: 16-21, but it’s in Matthew 14:22-33 that we have the account of Peter walking as well.

At 17 inches long, with 8mm beads, this rosary is roughly the same size as your standard rosary except the crucifix is larger. The rosary is assembled with 49-strand steel beading wire, crimping beads, and wire protectors, so it is super strong and will last a lifetime of use. While I do strength test every rosary, it is still a handmade piece and prone to human error. So, should it break, simply gather all the beads you can find and contact me and I’ll gladly repair it for you for free sans shipping and the replacement of major parts (if you loose the spacers, don’t even worry about it).

The beads are jasper and have a weight to them, which I always find helps me really focus when I’m praying. They also take on the ambient temperature of the room- so in winter I usually find my rosary to be a little chilly- just another reminder that you’re praying! But they also quickly warm up from your body heat, especially the jasper.

The beading wire stretches slightly as it is used (this is normal – it wears in like good leather boots) so you will still be able to slide the beads along as you pray.

Features of the rosary:

Center piece: 5/8″x3/4″ silver oxidized Sacred Heart and Fatima centerpiece

Crucifix: 2-1/4″x1-1/4″ antique silver Pardon Crucifix

Hail Mary beads: 8mm blue and brown sea sediment jasper stone beads

Our Father beads: 8mm white shell pearl beads – meaning the bead is made from shells, not that it has a shell of peal that will flake off.

Spacers: 4mm light grey-blue mother of pearl spacer beads with silver oxidized flower bead caps and black czech glass seed beads

Your Impact

For every order, 10% of all proceeds will go to organizations who provide resources to at risk women before and after birth.

The first is The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. They area a local organization to me,  providing resources and care for free to women in crisis pregnancies, from ultrasounds to parenting classes to post abortion healing.

The second is the Sisters of Life, a newer religious community founded in 1991 in New York to promote the dignity of every human life. They have houses for women to come live with them during and after their pregnancy as they get back on their feet, as well as counseling for post abortion healing, and other missions.
