Description

These striking agate beads shine like light reflecting off clear blue water, waves lapping against the seashore making it the perfect rosary for Our Lady, Star of the Sea. This devotion to Mary has been around since medieval times – calling upon Mary as our guiding star to Jesus.

St. Bernard referenced Mary under this title saying. “If the winds of temptation arise; If you are driven upon the rocks of tribulation look to the star, call on Mary; If you are tossed upon the waves of pride, of ambition, of envy, of rivalry, look to the star, call on Mary. Should anger, or avarice, or fleshly desire violently assail the frail vessel of your soul, look at the star, call upon Mary.”

Do we go look to Mary as our guiding star? Do we ask her to show us how to live like Jesus? Or do we try to do it all ourselves? When everything around us seems to be falling apart and we feel like we are drowning in the sea of temptation, do we give up and do what is easy, or do we look to Mary standing at the foot of the Cross and trust that nothing is impossible with God?

To finish off the rosary, the center piece is a bronze image of Our Lady and Our Lady of Lourdes with St. Bernadette on the back. It’s a simple center piece that creates that final touch to bring it all together.

On the heirloom style:

Once I made the first amber rosary with the small-loop wire-wrapped links, I realized I really enjoy the soft repetition of linking bead after bead into a chain. And I absurdly loved how it looked and felt. I finally found a truly heirloom method of rosary making that actually looked good.

Now, you may be thinking, what’s the big deal with this wire wrapping?

So, if you notice on each bead link, there are two wraps between the loop and the bead. This is the wire turning back on itself and making it so the link NEVER opens up. That means no pulling it out of the rosary pouch only to find it in three pieces.

And because of the 22 gauge wire, this means no spontaneous snapping of the link.

It’s a rosary that is literally meant to be heirloom. It should never need to come back to me.

But PLEASE remember that all things can break with excessive use or in extreme situations.

Repairs can be made, and I would be delighted to do so, but as time goes on, I might not have extra beads or I might be gone. So do be gentle and take good care of your rosary.

Your Impact

For every order, 10% of all proceeds will go to organizations who provide resources to at risk women before and after birth.

The first is The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. They area a local organization to me,  providing resources and care for free to women in crisis pregnancies, from ultrasounds to parenting classes to post abortion healing.

The second is the Sisters of Life, a newer religious community founded in 1991 in New York to promote the dignity of every human life. They have houses for women to come live with them during and after their pregnancy as they get back on their feet, as well as counseling for post abortion healing, and other missions.
