Description

Rust red, maize yellow, sage green, and sand brown are woven together in these stunning earth-tone jasper beads.  Each bead is completely different from the next, some more beautiful and interesting, others more plain and dull.   Our very lives are much like this diversity – sometimes beautiful, sometimes boring, sometimes ugly, sometimes interesting. It’s the combination of all these aspects that make us uniquely us – God’s unrepeatable creation. Meditation and prayer comes easy with this much depth to the simple beads.

Conversely, each Our Father is a perfect, brilliant white bead made from jade.  The contrast is stark – which lead me to give this rosary it’s name.  For as Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men.” Mt 5:13

Are we nourishing ourselves with prayer and spiritual readings and good conversations? Are we entering the world and adding to it, making it better, just as salt does to our food? Are we noticing others; their dignity as unique creations of God?  Meditate on this with the Our Father beads and our created uniqueness with the Hail Mary beads together in this symbol-packed rosary.

To round it out, this rosary has a 1.5″ tall copper finish crucifix, and a dynamic image of Mary with the Child Jesus also in a copper finish as its center piece.

Like most of my rosaries, this one is made from stone beads; jasper as described above. Because of this rosary is stone, it has a weight to it and retains the colder ambient temperature of a room, which, in addition to all the symbolism inherent in these beads, really helps with focusing when praying. And then as you pray, the rosary gets warm from your body heat!

———

At 16 inches long, with 8mm beads, this rosary is roughly the same size as your standard rosary. The rosary is assembled with 49-strand steel beading wire, crimping beads, and wire protectors, so it is super strong and will last a lifetime of use. While I do strength test every rosary, it is still a handmade piece and prone to human error. So, should it break, simply gather all the beads you can find and contact me and I’ll gladly repair it for you for free sans shipping and the replacement of major beads (if you loose the spacers, don’t even worry about it).

The beading wire stretches slightly as it is used (this is normal – it wears in like good leather boots) so you will still be able to slide the beads along as you pray.

I only just realized all the symbolism in this rosary and I am loving it! I hope you join me in meditating on all the crazy ways Jesus speaks to our heart.

I LOVE IT!!! Each bead feels soft, yet cold as I hold them when I pray. I smile each time I pull it out, seeing the colors that remind me of nature walks I have taken and I begin to feel calm. I especially enjoy seeing the stark contrast of the white beads, reminding me of my Father in Heaven even more. Thank you for such beautiful work.

  2. Catherine

This rosary is gorgeous and truly so unique- each bead is different! My favorite part is the Mary centerpiece, which is beautiful, and also appropriate for the Christmas season. It would make an amazing gift, but I’m keeping this one for myself!

This rosary is even more beautiful in person! It is strong, durable, and the beads are simply stunning. This is quite honestly the highest quality rosary I have ever held. The level of durability and beauty of this rosary makes it well worth the money. I have no doubt that it will last me a lifetime (and then some!). I will not hesitate to purchase any of these rosaries as gifts in the future.

Monica has clearly been blessed with a God-given talent… this rosary is amazing!!! You can tell she was intentional in the making of the Salt of the Earth rosary, with each unique bead leading to the next. The craftsmanship is outstanding, the best I’ve ever come across. I have no doubts that this rosary will last a lifetime with the durable stringing method that Monica implemented. I am looking forward to the next excuse I can use to make another order! 🙂

Your Impact

In light of the new New York bill allowing abortions up to birth, 10% of all proceeds will go to organizations who provide resources to at risk women before and after birth.

The first is The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. They area a local organization to me,  providing resources and care for free to women in crisis pregnancies, from ultrasounds to parenting classes to post abortion healing.

The second is the Sisters of Life, a newer religious community founded in 1991 in New York to promote the dignity of every human life. They have houses for women to come live with them during and after their pregnancy as they get back on their feet, as well as counseling for post abortion healing, and other missions.
