Mary is the Queen of Martyrs because she suffered so greatly watching the death of her Son on the Cross. Of all the martyrs, she suffered the most, only exceeded by Jesus’ own suffering.
This isn’t just some random pious belief. It’s a serious tradition of the Church that is more clear with meditation.
Mary is born without sin. She never sinned in her life. Absolutely none of us can make that same claim.
Can you imagine a person who never is angry? Never is petty? Never says a bad word about someone else? Always is helpful, kind, and loving?
This is Mary.
And this is the same person who willingly watched her Son die in a most gruesome death; her Son who, like her, also never sinned. He did not deserve any of the pain of the Passion. Mary trusted in the plan of God and did not hate any of the men who killed Jesus. She did not hate any of the people in the crowd who insulted and spat on Him.
Can you imagine the pain she held in her heart?
The anguish from choosing to not hate. The anguish from each blow landed on Jesus.
She suffered hand in hand with Jesus.
She is a martyr.
So when you are struggling in life. When you are suffering. When you are in pain. You can turn to the Queen of Martyrs and know that Mary knows what you are feeling. And she will console you and give you strength.
This rosary features blood red bamboo coral beads which hold small imperfections, little cracks, to remind you of the pierced heart of Mary and the compassion she has for your suffering.
In stark contrast to the red, the Our Father beads are white jade to remind you of the purity of Mary; even as she watched the Crucifixion she never had hate or anger. She only loved Jesus and trusted the promise that God had a plan.
On either side of these white beads are shining gold bead caps in the shape of crowns which solidify the naming of the rosary as Queen of Martyrs. They are exactly the same color of gold as the Benedictine Crucifix and Our Lady of Grace centerpiece as well as the small spacer beads. They bring a warm glow to this rosary, reminding you of the promise of Heaven.
At 15.5 inches long, with 7mm beads, this rosary is roughly the same size as your standard rosary. The rosary is assembled with 49-strand steel beading wire, crimping beads, and wire protectors, so it is super strong and will last a lifetime of use. While I do strength test every rosary, it is still a handmade piece and prone to human error. So, should it break, simply gather all the beads you can find and contact me and I’ll gladly repair it for you for free sans shipping and the replacement of major beads (if you loose the spacers, don’t even worry about it).
The beading wire stretches slightly as it is used (this is normal – it wears in like good leather boots) so you will still be able to slide the beads along as you pray.
