Holy Mary. The first title of Mary in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
It’s a statement of her name unlike the other titles, so I choose specially to just show Mary.
Mary’s eyes look sad but strong. Steady and intense.
This is the strength of a mother, especially the mother of our Savior.
I stumbled upon the reference photo while looking for the other titles. In fact, I have a entirely different reference photo that was going to be for Holy Mary.
But the eyes of this model drew me in, and before I knew it I was avidly drawing.
The result was a gorgeous painting that still takes my breath away.
