Description

“I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your Word”. With Mary’s simply yes to the angel Gabriel, God became flesh in her womb. Kept preserved from original sin by a singular grace of God by the merits of Hist future Passion and Death and Resurrection, her purity enabled her to say yes to such an incredible office of Mother of God.

But she didn’t have all the answers for how it would work, she asked for clarification for how she would become with child though she had known no man, but beyond that? Nothing.

Soon enough Joseph would find her with child and resolve to divorce her quietly, and she made no remark against it. Traditionally it is held that she didn’t even tell him how she had become pregnant, trusting completely that God would take care of everything. And He did. He sent the angel to Joseph in a dream to encourage him.

The crazy lace agate beads used for the Our Fathers showcase this uncertainty. The colorful lines of this striped stone twist and turn in wonderful patterns, but without a clear path. Following God is a joyous adventure, but it’s not a clear one.

But by Mary’s fiat we can go to her and ask for her aid. She is our mother, longing to give help to her children.

On the heirloom style:

Once I made the first amber rosary with the small-loop wire-wrapped links, I realized I really enjoy the soft repetition of linking bead after bead into a chain. And I absurdly loved how it looked and felt. I finally found a truly heirloom method of rosary making that actually looked good.

Now, you may be thinking, what’s the big deal with this wire wrapping?

So, if you notice on each bead link, there are two wraps between the loop and the bead. This is the wire turning back on itself and making it so the link NEVER opens up. That means no pulling it out of the rosary pouch only to find it in three pieces.

And because of the 22 gauge wire, this means no spontaneous snapping of the link.

It’s a rosary that is literally meant to be heirloom. It should never need to come back to me.

But PLEASE remember that all things can break with excessive use or in extreme situations.

Repairs can be made, and I would be delighted to do so, but as time goes on, I might not have extra amber or I might be gone. So do be gentle and take good care of your rosary.

Your Impact

For every order, 10% of all proceeds will go to organizations who provide resources to at risk women before and after birth.

The first is The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford. They area a local organization to me,  providing resources and care for free to women in crisis pregnancies, from ultrasounds to parenting classes to post abortion healing.

The second is the Sisters of Life, a newer religious community founded in 1991 in New York to promote the dignity of every human life. They have houses for women to come live with them during and after their pregnancy as they get back on their feet, as well as counseling for post abortion healing, and other missions.
