Description
The Consecration. This time wreathed in the unending gold of Heaven. Beautiful to behold and desirable. Jesus is exalted and praised above all. The same Jesus who in Revelation is “upon the golden altar before the throne of God” Rev. 8:3)
The priest offers the chalice filled with what was, moments before, simple wine, but is now the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus.
The angels bow before the chalice and adore God. The servers gaze and adore, reminding us faithful of the solemn importance of this moment.
The three time chiming of the bells is the only sound in the church. The wine has become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity and in this moment we the laity adore our God.

The church in this painting is the St. Joseph in Freeport, IL US. Painted as an illustration for Kimberly Fries’ book: Traditional Latin Mass: A Missal for Children found here: https://amzn.to/3FnasK0
(For the Latin Mass loving Catholics checking for Churches to go to, this is the only one confirmed as to not have Latin Mass. They celebrate the NO, but I love this high altar. The current pastor secured the altar after it was taken out of another church, finally returning a high altar to his church after it had been removed years before.)
