Description
The Final Blessing: After the priest reads the Communion verse and Postcommunion prayer, he returns to the center and declares the Mass as ended. Turning around he prays a final prayer dwelling on the sacrifice of Calvary that he has just re-presented to God praying:
“May the homage of my bounden duty be pleasing to Thee, O holy Trinity; and grant that the sacrifice which I, though unworthy, have offered in the sight of Thy majesty may be acceptable to Thee, and through Thy mercy be a propitiation for me and for all those for whom I have offered it. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
And turning back to the people, gives us the Final Blessing.
This is the solemn last act of Mass. All the graces received are confirmed in this Sign of the Cross.
Make it solemnly as if it was the last time you received the blessing, for indeed, it might be.
Surrounded by the majestic altar, dramatically back-lit with the light of Heaven and the warm comforting pinks and golds, the solemnity and joy of this moment is made clear.
Given under the image of the Adoration of the Child of St. Ann, motherhood is exalted. Ann raising Mary. Mary raising Jesus. As the priest gives the blessing, families take heart. The Lord your God blesses you and gives you the graces necessary to raise your children well and love your spouse. To pray for them and love them unto Heaven.

The church in this painting is St. Ann in Krakow, Poland. Painted as an illustration for Kimberly Fries’ book: Traditional Latin Mass: A Missal for Children found here: https://amzn.to/3FnasK0
(For the Latin Mass loving Catholics checking for Churches to go to, I have no idea on this one. The church is a diocesan church as far as I know, so probably not. I edited out a low altar for the record. But worth the visit for the sacred art otherwise.)
