Description
Latin Mass Communion is over powered. Absolutely nothing compares. The long wait in the pew to make a final preparation of your heart to receive the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus.
The long wait in the line as you slowly move forward, not rushed and hectic. Giving time to both be distracted and bring your mind back to God.
The kneeling for half a minute at the foot of the altar, mere feet away from where the bread and wine have JUST been transformed into the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus. Contemplating the mystery of the Mass up close.
Receiving Jesus. On the tongue. Surrendering wholly to Him who made us.
This is what brought me to keep returning to the Latin Mass.
This is what made all the confusion of the first half mean nothing.
This is what made me excited, for the first time in a long time, to go to Mass day after day.

The church in this painting is St. John Cantius in Chicago, IL US. Painted as an illustration for Kimberly Fries’ book: Traditional Latin Mass: A Missal for Children found here: https://amzn.to/3FnasK0
(For the Latin Mass loving Catholics checking for Churches to go to, the Canons celebrate the extraordinary form and the Novus Ordo, but Ad Orientum. Their mission is to restore our sense of the sacred and they do amazing work promoting beauty and tradition. 100% worth the visit.)
